Macedonian Association for Geotechnichs is established in 1998 (before that it has been part of JDMTF), it is a member of ISSMGE since 2001 and ISRM since 2017.
Since 2002, each four years, MAG organises the national geotechnical symposium, which has become a regional event at the least. With support of respective professionals from the geotechnical society throughout the world, MAG regularly organises lectures, seminars and courses for the Macedonian geotechnical students at all academic levels, as well as for geotechnical engineering practitioners. MAG has organised several high profile events in wider regional terms. The 16th Danube-European Conference on Geotechnical Engineering was held in Skopje in 2018, where a rich variety of both experienced and young geotechnical audience attended. In 2022, the Fifth national geotechnical symposium was supported by the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) and was held in the form of ISRM Specialized Conference. This event also presented a 2nd Conference of the geotechnical societies from Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia, thus being supported also by the ISSMGE
